Brian McNeal, mayor of McClendon‑Chisholm, briefed the Rockwall County Commissioners Court during public forum on a sewer main break discovered the prior week and the city’s response.
McNeal said crews located and stopped the break within an hour and completed an initial repair within about four hours. Environmental contractor EnviroServe and partners Inframark and Double R began cleanup work that evening; McNeal said the county’s Office of Emergency Management, the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office (including drone support) and neighboring city crews assisted.
McNeal said about 50,000 gallons of waste were removed and a multi‑week cleanup process involving micro‑barrier products and spot treatments is underway. He told the court that the water supply was never at risk and that the remediation program will take several weeks with staged flushing and follow‑up sampling. He also thanked county staff, local chiefs and council members for on‑site support and said the city will release further public updates as the cleanup progresses.
Judge New and Commissioner Lisa Galana publicly commended McNeal and local responders for quick communication and coordination.
