Council OKs modest increases to public rates at Plainview Country Club

Ms. Adey, Plainview’s director of economic development and president of the Plainview Country Club Board (speaking in her capacity as board president), presented a proposed update to public golf rates and asked council to approve the public-course fee schedule.
Adey told council the agreement between the city and PCC Inc. (the country club manager) requires the city to approve public golf rates and that the board had surveyed nearby courses in the Panhandle to set competitive pricing. The board recommended increases generally in the 10–15% range; Adey said veterans and first responders would be offered a reduced rate set about 10–15% below the public rate.
Councilmember House moved to accept the recommended public golf rates, Councilmember Dickerson seconded, and council approved the motion; a council member noted the presented rates remain comparable to fees the council member paid at area courses in prior years. Adey said staff will bring rate recommendations annually and that the changes would go into effect July 1, 2025.
The presentation stated the course attracts regular players from Lubbock and that keeping rates competitive is part of sustaining the club and encouraging public play. No public comments were made on the agenda item at the meeting.
