Keep Lago Vista Beautiful proposes mural for golf clubhouse; committee voices support

Didier said Keep Lago Vista Beautiful has already secured funding and city approval for the idea and is now seeking input and a general go-ahead from stakeholders before requesting design proposals. “We have the funds,” she said, and described a plan to solicit local artists and bring back a few design options for committee review.
Committee members and staff who spoke during the item said they supported the concept and urged sensitivity to the clubhouse’s proportions and the golf course’s character. A golf professional who spoke at the meeting recommended a golf-themed image and emphasized the need for the mural to complement the course’s scenic views. Janice Didier identified Aaron Darling as a likely local artist the group would approach.
Speakers discussed the mural’s approximate location on the clubhouse wall (above the bushes and roughly to the windows) and said the nonprofit would constrain the design to fit that area and to be in proportion. Committee members asked that course management be involved in final selections so the mural works with the clubhouse and does not interfere with operations.
No formal vote was taken by the committee during the presentation. Didier said Keep Lago Vista Beautiful would return with artist concepts and specific designs for committee feedback.
The nonprofit also said it would maintain adjacent landscaping and coordinate with course staff; one committee member offered to meet the artist and staff to review designs once they are ready.
Members agreed the project should not draw on the golf course operating budget; Didier reiterated the mural funding comes from Keep Lago Vista Beautiful rather than the golf budget. The committee asked Didier to bring finished proposals to a future meeting and to coordinate with golf staff on installation timing and maintenance.
