Cedar Hill city secretary's office wins TMCA Achievement of Excellence Award

City Secretary Belinda Berg and staff member Rosie Erickson were recognized by the Cedar Hill City Council on June 24 after the Texas Municipal Clerks Association awarded their office the 2025 Achievement of Excellence Award.
A presenter told the council the TMCA award recognizes municipal clerk offices that demonstrate proficiency across core functions including records management, the Open Meetings Act, the Public Information Act, elections support and innovation in processes. The presenter said the award requires certification and proficiency in at least nine of 12 core areas.
The presenter highlighted specific improvements credited to Berg and Erickson: an online open‑records request system, an electronic agenda system for public packets (the presenter said the June packet totaled roughly 1,000 pages), expanded on‑demand meeting video tied to agenda items, and streamlined boards and commissions appointment and orientation processes. The presenter also said Belinda Berg serves as the city’s risk manager and has modernized office policies and procedures.
Belinda Berg said, “It’s truly an honor to receive this award,” and acknowledged council and city staff support. Rosie Erickson also thanked Berg for mentorship.
The council observed the recognition; no appropriation or policy change was taken on the award item.
