Representatives from the Kennecott Visitors Experience (Rio Tinto) told the Copperton council during public comment that the operation will offer free tickets to nearby municipalities on a single weekday this summer.
The speaker said each participating community may receive 300 tickets for one day; Copperton council members accepted an August 6 date and requested August 12 as a backup. The town will publicize the QR code and ticket link through municipal channels, including the town website and UpAhead (the town's outreach platform). "We will create one that's just for Copperton," the presenter said, describing plans to manage registrations and to provide a few hands-on STEM activities and staff geologists on site.
Council members asked the presenter to confirm the date and said the town will add the community day information to Fourth of July outreach and town-day promotion. The Kennecott team agreed to confirm availability and provide advertising content and the QR code for Copperton's channels.
