Bannock County commissioners approve 2025 burn ban from July 1 to Oct. 1
Summary

Jones said the ban is standardized and runs "from July 1 to the October 1, contingent upon the weather conditions and fuel loads and and everything else later in October." He told the board the wording and press release have been reviewed by county attorneys.
A commissioner raised a question about the press-release wording that says "many of the fire officials from the municipalities, fire districts" rather than simply "fire officials," noting the phrasing could suggest not all fire agencies agreed. Jones said the county attempts to collect responses from all fire departments and fire commissioners in Bannock County but does not always receive responses from every agency.
After that exchange, a commissioner moved to approve the 2025 burn ban; the motion was seconded and the board voted in favor.
The approved document places the burn ban effective July 1 through Oct. 1, subject to change based on weather and fuel loads, and authorizes the chair to sign the release so the county’s public information officers can distribute the guidance.
The record includes discussion of the press-release phrasing but no change to the effective dates or the core ban language. The board did not attach additional conditions or amendments during the vote.
