Select Board accepts trustee transfer form; trustees present $1,500 Scholastic Achievement Award to local senior

The Brookfield Select Board voted to accept an authorization form that trustees will use to document deposits to and withdrawals from the town's trust funds.
The form had been revised after earlier board comments and trustees reported those comments were incorporated. The board approved the motion; there were no recorded dissenting votes.
During the meeting, Trustee Susan Weiske explained that the Scholastic Achievement Award fund is privately funded and administered by the trustees. "This award was established in 1996 and is entirely funded by private donations and memorial gifts," Weiske said.
The trustees presented this year's Scholastic Achievement Award to Liam Moore, a Brookfield graduating senior reported by trustees to have the highest grade point average among the town's graduating seniors. The trustees said the award amount is $1,500. Moore told the board he will attend North Carolina State University in Raleigh and plans to study computer or electrical engineering.
No town funds were identified as part of the Scholastic Achievement Award; trustees said it is a privately funded memorial award administered through the trustees of the trust fund.
Action: motion to accept the trustee transfer/authorization form was made and carried; the board also approved that trustees administer and present the privately funded Scholastic Achievement Award.
