Clovis commission approves FY26 contract with Clovis Main Street, increases funding to $52,000

The Clovis City Commission voted unanimously Thursday to approve the fiscal year 2026 contract renewal with Clovis Main Street and increase the contract amount to $52,000.
The contract was pulled from the consent agenda so commissioners could consider increasing the award from $50,000 to $52,000 to meet the minimum required in the biennial agreement with New Mexico Main Street. Mayor Pro Tem Bryant moved approval; Commissioner Jones seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The funding increase was explained during the meeting as a compliance step with New Mexico Main Street’s biennial contract minimum. Mayor Pro Tem Bryant said the increase aligned the city’s contract with that requirement. Commissioner Casaus praised Main Street’s recent improvements, saying, “I think Lisa and Paul are doing an outstanding job. Main Street has never looked better and they just keep adding more and more and more.”
Paul Poehler, identified at the meeting as the board president for Clovis Main Street, thanked the commission for the funding and described planned downtown renovations. “Things are going to look markedly different 6 months from now,” Poehler said, adding that the organization appreciated the commission’s support and would use the funds “wisely.”
The commission did not attach further conditions to the contract in the meeting. The commission also offered the board president and the Main Street executive director an opportunity to speak following the vote.
