Commissioners hear fleet-replacement plan that would cost roughly $650,000 a year

Commissioner Paul Adams told the board on June 19 that Enterprise Fleet Services presented a plan recommending the county replace all vehicles on a three-year cycle at roughly $650,000 per year.
"Mainly they wanna replace every vehicle every 3 years at roughly a cost of $650,000 a year," Commissioner Paul Adams said during his commissioner report. He added that the figure is "more than our total capital improvement budget" and that the county will try to scale the plan to actual needs.
Adams said he has asked John Mapes from IT/GIS to help evaluate the county's inventory and that the county might be able to implement portions of the plan internally without adopting the consultant's full recommendation. The board discussed prioritization and noted that some county vehicles are nearing obsolescence and require replacement.
No formal procurement or budget action was taken at the meeting; commissioners said they will continue internal review and compare the county's needs to enterprise and other fleet-service proposals.
