Board approves LSP contract for senior center; director reports steady services and events

Coast to Coast Legal Aid provided a pro bono advanced-directives clinic “today,” offering assistance with durable power of attorney, health-care surrogate forms and living wills.
Upcoming events and dates named in the report include a choir performance on July 3, a “Crazy Hat Day” and ice-cream social on July 15, a Hawaiian Day on Aug. 22, a Grandparents Day talent show on Sept. 5 and Fall Prevention Week beginning Sept. 22. Terry said funding for the center is “stable” at present.
Board members offered praise and encouragement after the report. Board member Rosano said, “Keep up the good work and have a great summer.” Board member Casciano described the center as a “home away from home” for many seniors. Board member Simone noted a health fair scheduled for June 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and reminded members of a caregiver disaster-preparedness conference on June 30 in Davie, which she said is run by the Aging Disability Resource Center; she said staff member J.R. has the event information.
