Fairfield moves to rejoin Utah County CDBG program; council to consider resolution next month

A representative from the Utah County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program briefed the Fairfield Town Council on June 18 about joining the county program, which would make the town eligible to apply for CDBG funds.
Jessica Delora with Utah County CDBG described the program’s national objectives—principally serving low‑ and moderate‑income households, eliminating blight, or addressing urgent needs—and explained that towns below entitlement thresholds typically participate through county programs. She said participation in the county CDBG makes Fairfield eligible to apply for funds for projects such as sidewalks, water lines, curb and gutter, ADA ramps and similar infrastructure; participation itself does not obligate the town to apply for funding.
Delora outlined next steps: the council would adopt a resolution indicating intent to participate, sign an agreement with Utah County, and (if participating) become eligible to apply beginning July of the next program year. She noted a suggested deadline of June 27 for paperwork, but said dates are somewhat flexible.
Councilmembers indicated support and asked staff to bring a resolution forward at the next council meeting for formal action.
