Washington County’s Executive Committee voted unanimously to approve Resolution 2025 to provide shared geographic information system (GIS) services to the towns of Erin and Barton.
The resolution authorizes the county to maintain the towns’ zoning maps and add those layers to the county’s interactive map so town and county zoning can be viewed together, officials said. The motion was moved by Supervisor Chaudhrynd and seconded by Supervisor Schwab, and passed by voice vote.
County GIS staff said the current requests are limited to maintaining local zoning maps and present only a minimal workload. Eric Damcotte, county GIS staff, told the committee, “We can absolutely accommodate with the staff we have if the request start to become significantly more than zoning.” He added that if requests expand beyond zoning, staff would return to the committee to discuss capacity.
Committee members said the combined map should make it easier for property owners and staff to see county shoreland zoning alongside town zoning. The committee recorded the vote as unanimous; no roll-call tally was provided in the transcript.
The approval follows the committee’s review of the consent packet and routine minutes. No further direction or funding changes were specified in the discussion.
