Triathlon and multi-community "Beaver County Boom" festival draw visitors; officials plan shuttles and road closures

Beaver County commissioners reported Wednesday that a recent triathlon at a county park and an upcoming multi-community festival called "Beaver County Boom" drew and will draw visitors from across the United States and abroad, and county staff are coordinating signage, shuttles and road cleanup.

Commissioners said the triathlon attracted competitors from states including Florida and Texas and a group from Chicago; organizers Jenny Lee and Joella Baker were credited with leading the event. Officials said sheriff’s deputies reported no major traffic issues and that complaints were down. A county official said the event was the fourth year for the race and that organizers plan many more.

Commissioners also described plans for Beaver County Boom, a multi-community weekend of events that includes a bridal night, a street party in Bridgewater, a reading/walking tour in Brighton, fireworks by Zambelli and a main event on Saturday from 3 p.m. to about 9:30 p.m. County staff advised residents to follow Visit Beaver County’s social media for shuttle information, event maps and notices about potential road closures.

Officials noted a few operational items tied to the weekend: they plan to have roads swept before and after events and asked staff to arrange an American flag at the 4 Seasons Lodge, which is used for a morning anthem ceremony; Brady’s was mentioned as a location that already has a flag. The county said it anticipates completion of a road construction project prior to the event weekend.

County officials did not provide attendance totals for the festival weekend or a detailed traffic-management plan; officials said event logistics and shuttle schedules will be released via Visit Beaver County channels.
