Saldivar’s remarks: Saldivar spoke to the chamber and thanked colleagues, family and staff. He defended the work of the administration, noted the successful decommissioning of BeProud in early 2022 without fiscal losses, and cited passage of a local sales tax measure (Measure BP) that staff said brought substantial annual revenue. In his prepared remarks he said, “I leave BP knowing that I have made a difference in the city.”
Ceremony and continuity: the council presented a proclamation and a plaque; multiple community groups gave certificates of appreciation. City staff said Saldivar will be succeeded on July 1 by an acting chief executive officer (city manager), and the council invited the public to a reception following the meeting.
