Board notes PFAS detection near Flint Road monitoring well; nearby households already enrolled in water program

At the Town of Charlton Board of Health meeting on June 17, a board member updated members about a recent PFAS detection near Flint Road.
The board member said a monitoring well near Flint Road recorded "a 0.38 detection, which is above the limit" and noted historical detections near the town landfill. The member said two homes within the 500-foot radius around that monitoring well are already enrolled in the town's water-provision program and are receiving either bottled water or a filtration system.
Board members said the licensed site professional (LSP) who reviewed the sample recommended continuing the existing sampling schedule; staff indicated the monitoring is annual and there was no plan to increase sampling frequency at this time.
No formal action was taken during the meeting on the Flint Road detection; the item was discussed as "old business" and recorded for the board's information.
