Midvale City on June 17 adopted a resolution endorsing the statewide initiative “A Bolder Way Forward,” which seeks accelerated progress on indicators for women and girls, including leadership, safety and economic opportunity.
Mariah (staff co-lead of the local government committee) presented the resolution and background, telling the council Utah ranks poorly on several metrics for women and girls and the initiative aims to accelerate change that could otherwise take decades. The resolution designates Midvale as a Bolder Way Forward city and signals municipal support; it does not commit city funding.
Council members recounted Midvale history, including past women leaders, and praised the effort. County Council member Laurie Stringham, present in the audience, was acknowledged for county-level participation in the coalition.
The council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 2025-R-36. Council members said the designation is a step toward aligning city programs and departmental practices with the initiative’s goals and to identify local actions that support women and girls.
