Baltimore County trial board found officer guilty; discipline matched ACC recommendation

At the June 6 meeting of the Baltimore County Administrative Charging Committee, Coordinator Henry Callegary reported that a Baltimore County Police Department trial board convened May 14 found an officer guilty of the charge "failure to take appropriate police action." Callegary said the verdict was unanimous and that the trial board imposed a letter of reprimand — the discipline the committee had recommended.

Callegary told the committee the case had been referred to the trial board and that it resulted in the same discipline the Administrative Charging Committee had sought. "The officer was found guilty by unanimous verdict, and the discipline was... letter of reprimand, which is the discipline that was also recommended by the administrative charging committee in this case," Callegary said. He added this was the only trial board involving the ACC since the last meeting and that there were no pending BCPD trial boards involving the committee at the time of the report.

Committee members did not take additional formal action on this report during the open session. No names of the officer involved or other identifying case numbers were provided in the open meeting record. The committee later proceeded to a closed session to review investigatory files per the county code.

The trial board date, verdict summary and discipline were reported as factual updates to the committee; the record does not show further administrative action by the ACC on this case at the June 6 meeting.
