Finance director reports fiscal-year dashboard; county reports 62 federal inmates
Summary

Lisa Cohen of the county finance department reviewed the fiscal dashboard for the 11 months ending May 30, 2025, reporting that general fund revenues were at 75% and expenditures at 75% of budget.
Cohen reported additional fund positions: solid waste revenues were 90.51% with expenditures at 79.46%; a merchants’ telephone line showed 17.82% in revenue and expenses at 40%; and the water fund was at 88% revenue with expenditures at 55%. On the federal inmate program, the county reported an average of 62 inmates for the month of April and a current census of 62.
Commissioners discussed signage paid for by the county and said staff were working to obtain more information about costs. Prior Gibson from NC Rebuilds was scheduled to attend the Aug. 4 meeting to answer questions related to that program. The board also reviewed a calendar of upcoming public events including a third annual Juneteenth festival and a courthouse dedication in July.
Ending: The finance dashboard was received for review; commissioners asked staff to seek more information about road signs and confirmed several upcoming events for the county calendar.
