Hooksett staff report: council approved Lambert Park barbecue pit; repairs, senior space and honorary membership discussed

Rob, Parks and Recreation staff, told the group that the Town Council approved purchase and installation of a barbecue pit for Lambert Park and that department of public works (DPW) will install it with a cemented footing. "Ben has bought the barbecue pit, and we're waiting for DPW to get a chance to put it in," Rob said. The staff report noted installation will require digging and concrete footings similar to sign mountings.
Committee members also heard that fencing repairs at Frazier Park had been completed: a gate pole that had pulled out of its footing was reset and secured. Rob reported the pickleball group has shifted much play to Frazier Park in recent weeks and that daily calendar reservations should be checked; if groups do not use scheduled slots, staff may change the calendar to free the court for other users.
On senior programming, staff said Lambert Park now has a restroom and that the town library is permitting several days for a senior program; staff issued a three-day permit to the group as an interim measure. "She was happy that there was a bathroom there," Rob reported about the senior program leader.
During new business, commissioners proposed making an attending resident, John Pinnell, an honorary member or alternate because he expressed interest in local civic involvement. A motion to make him an honorary member was proposed and seconded during the meeting; the transcript records the motion and a second but does not record a formal roll-call vote or final tally during the session.
Procedural housekeeping included acceptance of the May 20 meeting minutes. The chair called for a motion to accept the minutes and after a motion and second recorded the results with unanimous consent: "All in favor, aye. Aye." The meeting adjourned after a motion and second near 7:25 p.m., according to the meeting record.
No budgets, bid amounts or firm installation dates were provided for the barbecue pit beyond the statement that DPW would perform installation when schedules permit; staff and members agreed to follow up with DPW on timing.
