The City Commission approved an award to Weekly Asphalt Paving Inc. for the milling and resurfacing of Miramar Parkway from Red Road to Palm Avenue and authorized the city manager to execute the agreement.

Public works staff said Miramar maintains roughly 166 centerline miles of roadway and prioritizes resurfacing projects using a pavement management system. The project was included in the FY25 capital improvement program under project number 52022; $1.3 million was budgeted citywide for street construction and resurfacing and the staff presentation said $1.2 million will be used for this Miramar Parkway segment.

Procurement: the solicitation (IFB 25-013) drew nine bids and Weekly Asphalt was identified as the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. The company contractually agreed to a 10% participation commitment for CBSB firms. Scope includes milling, leveling, resurfacing, maintenance of traffic and pavement markings across one centerline mile of Miramar Parkway between Red Road and Palm Avenue.

Costs and vote: the resolution text in the agenda packet lists the low bid at $1,094,491.38 and authorizes a construction allowance; staff presentation described the budgeted total as roughly $1.2 million. The commission voted to approve the award during the meeting.

Next steps: staff will finalize the contract, coordinate maintenance-of-traffic planning and begin scheduling the work in coordination with the city's FY25 street restoration program.
