Planning board approves two-year extension for Chick-fil-A site plan

The Nassau County Planning Board on June 17 approved a two-year extension for an approved site engineering plan for a proposed Chick-fil-A restaurant located on an outparcel near HomeGoods.
The extension was requested because no building permits have been issued; planning staff said the applicant had submitted permit applications but had outstanding corrections. "The engineer, Boller Engineering, requested the extension of the site plan, for, 2 years, and we're recommending approval of that," said Will Reiter, principal planner with the planning department.
The plan covers a standard Chick-fil-A building about 5,200 square feet with two drive-through lanes. Reiter said the site is roughly 100 yards from the board's meeting location, between a car wash and a Chipotle on an outparcel in front of HomeGoods. He told the board that there are no changes to the comprehensive plan or land development code affecting the approved plan and that the development-review committee would handle approvals tied to the extension.
There was no applicant presentation; the agent, Boller Engineering, notified staff it would not attend. Board member Henson moved to approve the extension, board member Morris seconded, and the motion carried on a voice vote.
The board's approval allows the development-review committee to oversee implementation and any future permits tied to the site plan.
