At the June 17 meeting the Mount Shasta Planning Commission recorded three formal actions on its consent and business calendars:
1) Approval of minutes: The commission approved the April 15 meeting minutes by unanimous voice vote following a motion to approve. Motion to approve the minutes was made and carried without opposition.
2) Design-review appointment: The commission appointed Planning Commissioner Toussaint Sarajan as the primary representative to assist planning staff with design-objective reviews for projects eligible for staff-level review (duplexes, stacked duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes and neighborhood townhomes). Commissioner Belinda Hagera was appointed as the alternate. The motion passed unanimously.
3) Parklet ordinance recommendation: The commission approved resolution PC 25-01 by unanimous vote, recommending the City Council (1) find the action fails to meet the definition of a project under CEQA and (2) amend Municipal Code chapter 19.03 to add a new design-permanence and character criterion for parklets. That action is summarized in a separate article and the resolution will go to council for two readings.
Ending: The commission's consent approvals and appointments passed unanimously; the parklet recommendation will proceed to the council for action.
