County infrastructure update: Liberty Hill Bypass nears completion; East Wilco Highway bridge ribbon-cutting set for Friday

Williamson County infrastructure staff on June 17 gave commissioners a multi-precinct construction update and Commissioner Bowles announced a ribbon-cutting Friday for the new East Wilco Highway bridge that county leaders described as a major regional project.
"We'll start with Precinct 1. We have lots of projects, under design. Nothing currently under construction," said Robert Day, senior director of infrastructure for Williamson County, as he opened the department's construction summary presentation.
Day's presentation reviewed projects across county precincts, including the nearing completion of the Liberty Hill Bypass in Precinct 2 and nighttime concrete pours on portions of the Ronald Reagan Boulevard bridge work. He described partnerships with the city of Round Rock on several projects, including the Wyoming Springs extension, which includes trenching and a city water line installation. Russell Fishbeck, the county's parks director, also briefed the court on updated sports court and field rental procedures for Southwest Williamson County Regional Park.
Commissioner Bowles used his comments to call attention to the East Wilco Highway bridge project and invited the public and media to a Friday ribbon-cutting. "It is the most expensive project in the history of the county to date, and, it is significant for the growth of the whole area out there," Bowles said, describing the bridge's importance for the east side of the county.
