Seguin ISD board selects Jack Lee as lone finalist for superintendent

The Seguin Independent School District Board of Trustees voted 7-0 to select Dr. Jack Lee, superintendent of Bullard ISD, as the district’s lone finalist for superintendent after a closed-session deliberation.

Board President Crittendon called the roll after a motion to name a lone finalist. Trustee Duncan moved to select a lone finalist as discussed in closed session; Trustee Miller seconded. The board voted “motion passes 7-0.”

The board introduced Dr. Lee in open session. Dr. Lee told trustees he began his career as a band director and later moved into administration. “If you care about kids, if you love kids, if you care about doing what’s best for kids in every decision that you make, you’re in the right line of business in the right district,” he said. He said family and relationships drive his work and that he looks forward to joining Seguin ISD.

Interim Superintendent Liz Banks and several trustees publicly welcomed Dr. Lee after the vote. Trustee Bright said he was “super excited” about Dr. Lee coming to Seguin. Several trustees complimented Dr. Lee’s job interview materials and preparedness.

The board did not take additional action on the superintendent appointment at the meeting; state law sets a period during which a lone finalist is named before a final contract is executed.

Dr. Lee introduced himself to the audience and said he is “very humbled, very honored” to be the district’s lone finalist. Board members then took photos and allowed public introductions in the boardroom before resuming the agenda.
