Water and Sewer department hires two chief operators, awards $884,910 emergency water service line contract

County staff presented hires and contracting actions for the Water and Sewer Department and described a multi‑step plan to meet Ohio EPA licensing requirements at treatment plants.
Staff said the department is hiring Anthony Sherrill as chief operator at $42 per hour effective July 1, 2025, and Alexander Ehrlich as chief operator at $46.50 per hour effective July 7, 2025. Both hires were presented as Class 3 Ohio EPA operators who are roughly two years away from eligibility to sit for Class 4 licensure; staff said a succession plan will be presented to the board in a future meeting to address Class 4 staffing continuity.
Separately, staff asked the board to award the emergency portion of the water service line replacement project to WG Staying LLC in the amount of $884,910. The board was presented only the emergency portion for consideration at this time. Staff also asked the board to approve a one‑year maintenance bond for Carriage Meadows Section 4 in Liberty Township and to award a one‑year contract to Giant Maintenance and Restoration Inc. for public fire hydrant painting in the amount of $77,250.
The items were included among departmental resolutions submitted to the board and recorded as approved in the resolutions motion taken during the meeting.
