STEM equipment grant: The committee accepted a STEM equipment grant from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center in the amount of $28,525 to purchase hands-on science kits. Motion made by Ms. Cristiano; seconded by Ms. Barrows. Roll call: 9–0.
McKinney-Vento grant: The committee accepted a McKinney-Vento homeless education grant in the amount of $42,000. Motion made by Ms. Babcock; seconded by Ms. Cornelio. Roll call: 9–0.
Donation (boots and backpacks): The committee accepted a donation of boots and backpacks valued at approximately $2,040 from Tom Slickin, president and founder of Provisions Ministry, and requested a customary letter of thanks. Motion made by Ms. Cornelio; seconded by Ms. Babcock. Roll call: 9–0.
Bills and payroll: The committee submitted bills and payroll in the amount of $976,365.92 and subsequently voted to pay bills and payroll in the same amount; motions made by Ms. Cristiano (submission) and Ms. Christiano (payment), with seconds recorded. Both roll-call votes: 9–0.
Why it matters: The grants fund classroom materials, interventions for students with disabilities and English learners, and services to support homeless students; the donation provides material support for students in need. The payroll and bills votes authorize routine district expenditures.
