The Evansville Land Bank on May 16 authorized staff to negotiate a one-year license agreement permitting 747 East Bellemeade to be used as a garden by the adjacent property owner.
Board members discussed the location’s context: the lot sits across from Bellemeade Park, near a newly renovated ball field and an actively-invested Boys & Girls Club building. A board member said the area has "a lot of activity" and suggested a one-year license would provide interim use while protecting the Land Bank’s ability to market the parcel for future development.
A motion directing Jessica to pursue a one-year use license agreement, with the licensee to carry insurance consistent with the Land Bank’s license form, passed by voice vote.
No sale price was adopted; earlier in the meeting staff noted a proposed purchase price of $500 for similar small lots when applicable, but the action taken at this hearing was limited to pursuing a short-term license rather than a sale. The board did not commit to long-term disposition during the license period.
