The Cultural Arts Subcommittee reported that 213 completed applications were submitted in the second expanded-access funding round and that about 30 reviewers are participating in reviewer training before being assigned to review teams.
Commission staff said the goal remains to present grant recommendations to the Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission at its August meeting. The subcommittee described this as “year 2” of the expanded-access grants program.
The commission later took public comment periods tied to the grant program and the Measure P allocations, parks master plan updates and the annual parks budget; staff recorded no public speakers on those specific agenda hearings at this meeting.
Deputy City Manager Jennifer Reese told commissioners that the City Council would take final votes on the fiscal year 2026 budget the following day, closing the budget process for the year.
No funding allocations or final grant awards were decided at the commission meeting; staff committed to return with reviewer recommendations and to present those recommendations to the commission in August.
