The clerk certified that the legal notice was published in accordance with the city's codified ordinances (section 12.56.08). Several residents and council members spoke in favor of the rezoning, praising the property owner for improvements and expressing support for the business's expansion plans.
An on‑record speaker identified only as a resident said, "Lingard Lumberjacks has done a phenomenal job of improving the appearance, of this side of Norton, and I will fully support, this local business, based off of what what I've seen them do." Council members echoed support and noted that future expansion in that area would likely require water and sewer extensions.
No speakers registered opposition during the three calls for comment; council closed the public hearing. The ordinance remained at second reading and was not adopted at the June 16 meeting.
