Historic Resources Commission continues several COAs, approves window replacements and makes other procedural approvals

The Columbus Historic Resources Commission on May 15, 2025 voted to continue several applications for more detailed plans, approved one multi-window replacement application, recommended a zoning variance and took other procedural votes. Several continuances were driven by requests for clearer drawings or for applicants to supply material samples.

Why it matters: The commission’s votes determine when and how changes to properties in local historic districts proceed. Several cases were continued because commissioners wanted more detailed drawings, materials samples, or evidence of historic condition before the commission grants final certificates of appropriateness.

What the commission did and why - Continued COA 2500091 (463–479 High Street, North Market Historic District): Staff presented an application to relocate refuse enclosures and replace a stair and stair landing. Staff recommended approval subject to subcommittee or staff review of revised siding samples and updated drawings. The commission moved to continue the application to allow the applicant time to provide detailed materials and refined drawings for the high‑traffic High Street facade; motion to continue passed.
