Councilmember Eric Garcetti, sponsor of the measure, said the website would present neutral materials, documents and updates to help residents better understand the consent decree and the reforms it requires. Councilmember Mark Ridley-Thomas, supporting the motion, said greater public access to consent-decree information is an important transparency measure to help restore public confidence.
The council approved the motion on an 11-0 roll-call vote with councilmembers present voting to direct staff to proceed with the web development and public information strategy.
