The Indianapolis Airport Authority approved the purchase of two tandem-axle plow trucks with radial dump spreaders from Rush Truck Centers of Indiana for an amount not to exceed $707,776 under project I-25-026, the snow equipment replacement program.
Staff explained the trucks will replace two vehicles more than 20 years old; they will be used for winter snow plowing and deicing and can serve as dump trucks during summer operations. The purchase is from a local vendor, is within the approved capital budget, and bid pricing came in under the budgeted amount. Staff noted a possible tariff of $3,900 per vehicle that, if applied, would add $7,776 to the project total; staff said the purchase can be accommodated through savings in the capital program.
The board moved and seconded the purchase and completed a roll-call vote approving the item.
Procurement is proceeding under the Authority's capital replacement program and staff will finalize delivery and budget accounting.
