Broadwater County Fair lineup: robotics demo, escape room and music confirmed; vendors signing up

Jessica, the Fair Board staff member responsible for fairbook and logistics, and Sheila, a Fair Board member handling vendors, reported confirmed entertainment and vendor commitments for the upcoming county fair.

Confirmed items and scheduling provided at the meeting included a robotics demonstration and STEAM activities organized in partnership with Stoker; a ceramics demonstration by Teddy; an escape room that runs by the hour, with up to 10 participants per session; and music by Travis Reagan. Jessica said the escape room will run on Friday evenings with games from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. (last session starting at 8 p.m.) and on Saturday from noon with the last game starting at 8 p.m. The escape room charges $5 per person for participants over age 13, and organizers plan an online or in-person signup sheet to limit no-shows.

Sheila reported four confirmed food vendors — Mining City Mud, Penny’s on the Go, and a new Southern Cajun vendor from Belgrade — plus two confirmed commercial vendors and three additional commercial vendors she still needed to contact. The fair’s escape room will occupy three commercial booths indoors; additional outdoor vendor space is available.

The board discussed scheduling to avoid conflicts with 4‑H judging and shows. Jessica said she wants under‑tent entertainment to avoid heavy overlap with 4‑H events such as the sheep and goat shows; board members suggested Friday afternoon or mid-afternoon Saturday slots for quieter or family activities.

Members also said sheep riding will return Friday and Saturday at the rodeo, organized by the rodeo club and a designated handler from the stampede. The board discussed possibilities for a petting zoo and other educational exhibits (example: hatching chicks or breed demonstrations) and identified potential local contacts including Caroline Nelson and families who have animals and past fair experience. Inflatables rented by Casey are expected to be available Friday afternoon and Saturday, with a smaller inflatable occupying significant indoor space.

No formal approvals or vendor contracts were completed in the meeting; board staff said they will continue to collect contracts and push fairbook and social media promotions once the fairbook is published.
