Summary
The committee received an update that UCLA Extension has submitted its self-evaluation report; a visiting team was named and a campus site visit is planned in June or July, with final recommendations due to LATC in October.
LATC staff and committee members discussed the upcoming certificate program review for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Extension landscape-architecture certificate.
Laura Zuniga said UCLA Extension submitted its self-evaluation report and that the visiting review team has been selected. The team will include LATC members and external reviewers: Marty Armstrong, Carlos Hernandez, Christine Anderson and Amber Lake. A site visit is scheduled for June or July; the visiting team will prepare formal recommendations after the visit and the report will be presented to LATC at its October 17 meeting.
Stephanie Landrigan, director of the UCLA Extension Landscape Architecture Program, spoke during public comment and said the program has roughly 100 students engaged across multiple years and appreciated the upcoming review. "I am really excited that you will be reviewing us, and we are a mighty little certificate program," she said.
LATC members noted that the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB) has recently signaled interest in accrediting certificate programs, and committee members said they will monitor LAAB developments as they relate to LATC's program-review role.
No committee action was required; the item was an informational update and staff will coordinate logistics for the site visit and the visiting-team report.
