The Friends of the Peabody Institute Library approved a $200 expenditure for supplies for the teen summer-reading program, accepted an updated budget report showing roughly $21,840 on hand, and approved a new slate of officers at the group's 2025 annual meeting.
Pat (Patricia) Baker, treasurer, told members the Friends' accounts are held at M&T Bank and the organization also purchased a certificate of deposit last October. "It was pretty flush with cash right now," Baker said, and presented a budget update showing year‑to‑date spending on previously allocated events including tonight’s author presentation, an August concert and planned fall programs.
The group approved the purchase of three additional museum passes that will arrive this summer; Baker outlined typical pass pricing from prior years including the New England Aquarium ($650), Zoo New England ($400) and North Shore Children’s Museum ($350).
Membership and outreach also grew: board members said the Friends have 91 members, 14 of whom are new this year, and they credited recent programming and collaborations — including talks, concerts and an oral-history workshop — and a community grant from the Danvers Community Council administered through the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
Nominations presented by Vice President Michelle Michalski produced an approved slate of officers: Ellen Clarkson (president), Michelle Michalski (vice president), Sharon Jaworski (recording secretary), Patricia (Pat) Baker (treasurer) and directors Lynette Gray, Kathleen (Cathy) Young and Trudy Cullen. Members then approved the slate by voice vote.
The board also reminded attendees that the Friends’ book drop-off begins June 2, members preview the sale on June 10 and the sale runs through June 14. The group encouraged community donations and volunteer help.
Actions recorded from the meeting included approval of the expenditure to support teen materials and formal acceptance of the nominations slate; both measures passed by voice vote.
