Meredith Maxfield was elected chair of the City of McMinnville Budget Committee during the group’s May 20, 2025 meeting following a nomination from the mayor and a roll-call vote.
The nomination came from Mayor Kim Morris. Morris formally nominated Meredith Maxfield; the nomination was seconded on the floor. During the roll call multiple committee members recorded “aye” votes and Maxfield stated, “I’m gonna abstain.” The chair announced at the end of the roll call: “Committee member Maxfield has been elected, by a vote, unanimously.”
The vote was conducted by roll call as part of the meeting’s opening business. Committee members present that recorded affirmative votes during roll call included Scott Cunningham, Stephanie Frost, Dan Tukalski, Kelly Bolden, Chris Chenoweth, Lonnie Watney, Zach Geary, Debbie Harmon Ferry and Council President Sal Peralta; Maxfield stated she would abstain from the vote. The meeting proceeded with Maxfield presiding as chair after the announcement of the outcome.
The election was procedural and limited to committee organization; no other formal actions were taken as part of the nomination and vote. The committee then moved to the public-testimony portion of the agenda.
