Hooper City staff told the council at the May 15 work meeting that an interlocal agreement for the county’s crime‑scene/forensic services (CSI Metro unit) will be presented for council review.
Staff explained that the CSI Metro unit is a shared service created so cities in the county do not each operate their own forensic units; instead, cities pay into the CSI Metro unit, and the sheriff’s office administers the unit. Staff said they had received an email from a county contact (named Morgan) and that Lieutenant Slater would be present at a city meeting to explain the agreement.
Staff said the agreement will be shared with council members and placed on a future agenda for review and motion. The staff presentation noted that the city’s portion of the CSI membership or service is paid through the sheriff’s office and that the formal interlocal agreement must be reviewed by both the council and the county commission.
