CJCC forms four‑person executive committee to review bylaws, strategy and data workgroups

The Sawyer County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council voted on May 14 to create an executive committee to begin review of the council's bylaws, mission and vision and to outline strategy and work groups, including a proposed data committee.

The motion established an initial executive committee of four people: Julia Lyons, Elaine Smith, (a member identified as) Kathy Locat and Kathy McCoy. The motion specified the committee could add members in the future. A CJCC member seconded the motion and the council approved it; the motion carried.

Council members discussed the committee's likely tasks, which include reviewing bylaws against best practices learned at recent CJCC training, defining the council's mission/vision, identifying 3–4 work groups (including data) that would bring data into work plans, and considering the need for a CJCC coordinator to help assemble information. One council member volunteered to co‑chair in place of Judge Isham, who the speaker said may not have time to chair.

The executive committee will identify people for an initial data committee and report back to the full CJCC with proposed membership and next steps.
