Miss Gilman said Avant will attend Certified Election Official training in early June. Marie Venturi, the interim elections director, will also attend training to maintain her certification, and several county staff from related offices — including recruiter Billy Cloud, Dylan Kendall from the county attorney’s office, and Jacob from elections — are scheduled to attend as well, staff said.
The staff announcement described the hiring as a recommendation that will be presented to the board for formal appointment and approval; no vote or formal appointment took place during the May 15 work session.
County staff asked the board to approve the appointment once the offer acceptance is finalized and noted the timing is intended to allow the new director to attend required training.
