The revised handbook adds grading-period dates and clarifies the timing for mid‑nine‑weeks progress reports and report cards. The district also moved PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) student rewards from paper tickets to an electronic system.
Separately, the district updated attendance-checkout procedures to address safety and chronic absenteeism concerns: after the fifth phone call to a parent to check a student out, the parent must appear in person to complete the checkout. Staff said the change aligns with nearby districts’ practices and aims to reduce fraudulent or mistaken phone-based checkouts and protect student safety.
Board members voted to approve the corrected copies of the handbook and the attendance-procedure addition; the motion to approve was carried during the meeting. Staff noted they will continue to answer questions from board members and staff and to finalize any remaining edits.
