The Lake County School Board voted to approve the district's TISA accountability review at its Jan. 13 meeting and received a school report-card overview that summarized federal accountability metrics.
District staff explained that TISA replaces previous funding-related measures that were once based mainly on enrollment, and that the new accountability framework ties funding considerations closer to student outcomes (including literacy and numeracy measures). The board posted the draft accountability materials for public review and solicited comment prior to approval.
A presenter identified subgroup achievement categories (BHN: Black, Hispanic, Native American; ED: economically disadvantaged; SWD: students with disabilities) and cited specific percentage changes in achievement measures and school-level results. The presenter said some schools remain in federal target-support lists and that improvements had not yet been sufficient to remove all identifications.
For high-school federal accountability, presenters noted different federal measures such as graduation rate and readiness metrics tied to ACT scores, early postsecondary opportunities and industry credentials. District leaders flagged chronic absenteeism and graduation rates as areas to watch while praising progress in other areas.
The board approved the TISA accountability review by motion; after the vote, staff said the approved materials would be posted to the district website for public access.
