Goose Creek CISD board approves multiple personnel appointments at special meeting

The Board of Trustees of GOOSE CREEK CISD met in a special called meeting beginning about 4:00 p.m. and unanimously approved a slate of personnel appointments including academic deans, a principal, an assistant principal and a social studies liaison.
The board recessed into closed session under Texas Government Code §§551.071 and 551.074 and returned to open session at about 4:48 p.m.; no action was taken while the board was in closed session. After reconvening, the administration presented personnel recommendations and the board voted to approve them.
The administration brought a personnel slate before the trustees asking them to approve elections and accept resignations and retirements as presented. Trustee Guy moved to approve the slate; Trustee Clem seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
Among the administrative and campus-level appointments the board approved were: the appointment of Ashley IJ as academic dean for the Sheila C. Lyles Early Learning Academy; the appointment of Dr. Carey Istree as academic dean for San Jacinto Elementary; the appointment of Leilinda Clements as principal of Sheila C. Lyles Early Learning Academy; the appointment of Cassie Vardell Norris as assistant principal at Ashbel Smith Elementary School; and the appointment of Amy Maddy as liaison for social studies. Each motion was moved and seconded as recorded on the meeting audio and carried unanimously.
The board also received and approved a recommendation related to the district—s Teacher of the Year retirement gala; the record shows a staff recommendation that trustees attend the event and a motion to approve that recommendation carried.
