A motion to move forward with reclamation was made and seconded; the chair called the vote and the motion passed 4-0.
Board members characterized the step as preserving options: the remediation would allow the district to either rehabilitate the structure or proceed with demolition, depending on later decisions. No timeline or contractor was selected during the meeting; board members instructed staff to pursue bids and the grant extension and report back.
The HRSA grant (Health Resources and Services Administration) was identified in the discussion as the sole funding source for the reclamation work. District staff noted that applying for a one‑year extension through the grant administrator (discussed with a consultant, Dylan of SIXCO) is underway to avoid forfeiting the funds. The board did not set an implementation date during the meeting.
The motion passed unanimously; the district will now solicit bids for hazardous‑materials abatement and continue work with HRSA to secure an extension of the grant if needed.
