Lexington County School District One approves 33 certified and six administrative recommendations for 2025-26

Lexington County School District One’s board of trustees approved 33 certified staff recommendations and six administrative recommendations for the 2025–26 school year during a May 6 meeting called to address time-sensitive contract deadlines.

The actions were taken in a special meeting the board said was required to finalize hires before contracts are due this week. The board approved the certified-staff motion and the administrative-staff motion after members moved, seconded and voted “aye”; no opposed votes were recorded on the transcript.

Board members moved both motions during the meeting’s business portion. For the certified recommendations, one member moved the motion and Mr. Rice was recorded as the second. For the six administrative recommendations, a motion was made and seconded; the transcript records a second and a voice vote in favor. The motions carried.

District staff said the timing was required to complete contracts and place the new hires on payroll. Human-resources staff member Ms. Price told the board, “We are looking great. I just want to say thank you to the board for having this meeting this morning.” Price said the HR team had been working to “get these last ones across the finish line” so hires could begin before contract deadlines.

The board did not read individual names or job titles for every recommended hire on the public audio transcript; the motions approved the lists as presented to trustees. The meeting record indicates the board voted verbally by saying “aye” and recorded that “the motion carries.” No roll-call vote or numeric tally was stated in the public transcript.

The district said the next regularly scheduled board meeting is May 20.
