Evansville board approves $1.66M in pay requests for street‑maintenance facility, OKs GMP amendment credit

On May 8, 2025, the Evansville Administration Board voted unanimously to approve six contractor pay requests totaling $1,662,330.28 for work on the EWSU new City of Evansville Street Maintenance Department Operations Facility and approved Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) amendment A133 (dated 05/02/2025), which staff described as a credit for excavation work on the project.

The approved pay requests, all submitted by CH Garam and Son, were: a 02/25/2025 invoice for $367,724.55 (pay app 25); a 04/20/2025 invoice for $1,118,161.83 (pay app 26); a 04/17/2025 invoice for $85,929.04 (pay app 25, part 2); a 04/30/2025 invoice for $78,054.69 (pay app 25, part 3); and an 11/14/2024 invoice for $12,460.17 (pay app not specified in the record). Each item was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.

Board chair (identified in the transcript as the meeting leader) opened each item for motion and called for votes. At the GMP amendment agenda item, staff member Steve told the board, "This is just a credit for some excavation work that we've done outside of Broadway." The transcript does not record a dollar amount attached to the A133 amendment.

Board members also discussed the project's remaining balance. After the payments approved at the meeting, a board member stated that roughly $4,900,000 remained in the project account. The group briefly discussed possible uses for the remaining funds, including a previously mentioned road reconstruction project. One board member said that earlier conversations had moved from re-routing the road to reconstructing the existing alignment to accommodate increased truck traffic. The board also noted remaining punch-list items at the facility, including some lights out in a high bay, which staff said they expected to follow up on.

All six pay requests and the GMP amendment were recorded as approved (voice votes). With those approvals the board adjourned.
