MPO staff report progress on Walnut Street, Third Street and multiple state projects

MPO staff provided a project update covering Evansville projects (Walnut Street Phase 3, Third Street), county road acquisitions and designs, and several NDOT/STATE projects including US 41 pavement replacement and I-64 maintenance work.
MPO staff provided progress reports on local and state-managed transportation projects in the Evansville area.
City of Evansville projects: Walnut Street Phase 3 has final asphalt placed from US 41 to Garvin Street; staff said an early summer completion of construction activities is anticipated. A new Third Street reconstruction project with multimodal improvements has a preliminary engineering contract awarded to Versus Engineering.
Vanderburgh County: Oak Hill Road right-of-way activity includes acquisition of 45 parcels with two parcels in condemnation for the Lynch Road to Saint George segment. Winberg Road stage 2 plans were submitted; right-of-way engineering is complete and Centerpoint Gas is acquiring a utility easement. Environmental documents were submitted to NDOT for comment.
Wharton County and other county projects: Epworth Road Phase 1 environmental document was released for public comment; Phase 2 has a notice to proceed for preliminary engineering. Minor projects and programmatic agreements were submitted to NDOT where noted.
NDOT/highway contractor highlights: Staff summarized multiple state and federal projects, including work on SR 57/I-69 (contract R42753) with a pre-final inspection completed, pedestrian bridge and intersection improvements on US 41 (B42876), US 41 pavement replacement (R41410) with ongoing asphalt placement, and Lloyd Expressway/State Route 62 work on the west side of Evansville (R42287) where beams are being set and bridge demolition is ongoing. Staff also highlighted I-64 pavement maintenance (R43248) and US 41 HMA overlay design activity (R45274).
Staff invited questions; none were raised during the meeting.
