The Evansville Metropolitan Planning Organization approved a set of routine and program actions during its meeting, including the fiscal year 2026 budget, adoption of the final Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and conformity determination, a memorandum of agreement with METS, and sponsorship of six Henderson projects for Kentucky's SHIFT process.
The board voted by voice on each item with motions and seconds recorded; no roll-call tallies were read into the record. The meeting also approved minutes and payment of bills by voice vote.
The MPO approved the fiscal year 2026 budget as presented; the fiscal year runs July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. The board then approved the final TIP and the air-quality conformity determination for the 2026–2030 TIP, following a public comment period and three open houses. Staff reported one official public comment was incorporated into Appendix C of the TIP.
The MPO also approved a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to assist METS with grant and financial reporting for calendar year 2025; compensation in local funds was recorded in the meeting as $52,500.
Separately, the MPO approved a motion to sponsor six Henderson projects into Kentucky's SHIFT (Strategic Highway Investment Formula for Tomorrow) process so the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) can score them in its database. The six projects listed in the staff memo include turn-lane additions near the sports complex (Kentucky 812); reconstruction of Watson Lane from Green River to Sunset Lane; reconstruction of Kentucky 416 from US 41 to I-69; Elm Street reconstruction from Watson Lane to Highway Drive; reconstruction of Kentucky 1539 (LaRue Road) from 351 to Kimsey Lane; and an intersection upgrade at Kentucky 2183 and Kentucky 1539. Approval allows MPO staff to enter those projects into the CHAP database for KYTC analysis.
Other routine approvals included the meeting minutes and payment of invoices; these passed by voice vote.
