Fulton County hospital to switch to Epic on June 14; patients told to expect slower visits initially

A representative from the county hospital reported that the organization will switch to the Epic electronic medical record system on June 14 and asked the public for patience as clinics and staff adjust.
The hospital representative said providers will reduce patient volumes during the first month to allow staff time to use the new system and complete documentation, and that patients may see longer appointment times and additional paperwork. Patients were told they may receive MyChart messages to register for the portal; once registered, patients will be able to access records, schedule visits and pay bills across hospital and physician settings that previously used separate portals.
The hospital representative asked community members to be patient for one to two months after the go-live date and noted legacy records will remain available in PDF form for clinicians to import as needed.
