America 250 PA Blair County organizers outline statewide anniversary events and local schedule

A. C. Stickel, speaking for the America 250 PA Blair County Commission, used the April 17 public-comment period to announce a series of events commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Stickel said events begin April 18 with a commemoration of Paul Revere’s ride and an evening lighting at the courthouse clock tower. On April 26 at 4 p.m. the commission will hold a Liberty Tree dedication at Fort Roberdeau. Flag Day weekend will serve as a local kickoff: on June 13, organizers plan to unveil a Blair County Liberty Bell at DelGrosso’s Park; the event will include a kickoff gala at Liberty Hall with a keynote speaker identified in Stickel’s remarks.
“Fort Roberdeau on, Independence Day this year will, again, be reading the Declaration of Independence, and we'll invite all 3 of you to, to join us in that,” Stickel said, inviting commissioners to attend the July 4 reading.
Stickel provided flyers and a QR code that he said link to additional event information and fundraising materials such as pins and buttons. He said tickets for the June 13 gala would be priced and limited as noted on his handout.
Stickel described the commission’s goals as education, preservation, innovation and celebration and urged public and government participation in the schedule of events culminating on July 4, 2026. No county action was requested or taken on the announcements during the meeting.
