Grand Island board approves multiple staff and student-safety policies

The Grand Island Public Schools Board of Education on May 8 adopted several revised policies covering staff ethics, staff appearance, use of tobacco and vaping products, staff political activity and internet safety for students and staff.

The changes were presented by district staff and described as largely wording updates and efforts to make policy language more general and avoid conflicts with other named documents. Board members voted to approve the measures during the regular meeting after discussion and a first reading of some items.
